Steamed Chicken and Vegetables is a very delicious and healthy dish. The seasoned chicken and vegetables, when steamed, yield a flavorful and tasty dinner.
Cut the whole chicken into 4 pieces and give them deep cuts for good marination.
Now chop potatoes, tomatoes, onions, and capsicum.
Combine the seasoning ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix well to make a good mixture for marination.
Set aside some mixture (2 and ½ tbsp) for vegetables. Apply the remaining mixture thoroughly to all pieces of chicken and marinate it for 2 hours.
Take a medium-sized metal dish and place chopped vegetables in it. Pour the spices mixture and lemon juice over the vegetables. Rub the spice mixture well on the vegetables with the help of your hands.
Pan-Frying the Chicken
Now fry the marinated chicken in a skillet or frying pan. Pour some cooking oil into the skillet for pan-frying. Keep the flame medium and continue frying the chicken from each side till golden brown.
Steam Chicken and Vegetables Together
Take the cooking pot and pour 2 liters of water into it. Keep a steaming rack inside the pot.
Place the vegetable dish on the steaming rack.
Now place a strainer on the vegetables and place the fried chicken in it.
Cover the pot and place a heavy object over it to retain the maximum steam inside the pot for cooking. Cook the chicken and vegetables in steam for about 1 and ½ hours while keeping the flame medium.
After 1 & ½ hours you will have a delicious steamed chicken and vegetable dish ready for you. Serve it either with naan/chapati and raita or with boiled rice.
